There is a lingering air of mysticism in today’s society surrounding women and their bodies—a mysticism that can often feel isolating. Many of us are left feeling confused, uncomfortable, and unseen by a medical system that sometimes fails to meet us where we are.
A dear friend in our community, Lauren Mills, was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer. In the midst of rallying around her and asking how we could support her, she made a single heartfelt request: “Go get a pap.”
Her words struck a chord. As we began to reflect and talk among ourselves, it became clear that many of us had been neglecting our regular check-ups—not out of carelessness, but because of the discomfort, anxiety, and overwhelming nature of traditional medical environments.
From this realization, we decided to create something different: a safe, welcoming, and informed space where women can come together to learn about their bodies, share experiences, and prioritize their health.
This event is about more than just check-ups. It’s about reclaiming agency, breaking down the barriers of shame or uncertainty, and fostering a sense of community around women’s health.
